As I think about our nation today, I think about it with tears in my eyes, because I see where she has fallen to...and although I believe God is going to move, I'm afraid there are many hardships on her horizon. I think how she has been a beacon on a hill for many, many years.
I am soaking up everything I can, of every bit of normalcy that I can...the fireworks, the parades, the grill-outs, the songs, the families and friends celebrating together, and all things that say Independence Day in this nation. I truly believe that this will be the last Independence Day for some time that will be as it has been. Much will change between now and this time next year, from what I have sensed and seen. We will make it through, but it will be very different than what it has been.
May we never forget, that our freedoms have been paid for by many through these 246 years of being a nation. Starting with the American Revolution, and through today, many American soldiers have fought, and many died, to preserve what we hold dear...this amazing thing that we call freedom.
Although we are grateful for all those who have fought for these freedoms, it is to God whom our ultimate gratitude goes. If you have read about our history, and all that happened to ensure we would become a sovereign nation, then you know it only happened because God was also fighting for this nation. It is by His sovereign hand that this nation was born, to be a beacon of freedom to many, and to allow many to hear of the freedom that comes in Him alone.
I pray this nation will once again turn to the God of our ancestry, that we recognize that we are nothing without Him, and that we need Him now more than ever! I'm praying for America today...that she will arise from the state she has fallen to, and once again be that beacon on a hill that she is called to be. Praying for protection over all her cities and states today, and that His blood will cover all of His covenant people. Praying that she will stand beside the Lord, as He has stood beside her...Lord, let your wind of awakening blow on this country once again!!
