Today we partnered with our good friends and Pastors, Daniel & Priscilla Carmona with Remnant Church in Dallas to buy and distribute supplies to those who have been impacted by the horrible flooding in Newport, TN, which is only 45 mins east of us here.
The Carmonas happened to be out this way for some ministry and r & r, and we decided to utilize his dually truck to buy supplies and take them out to the area.
The drop-off location was very grateful, and said we brought some things that others hadn't thought of - first-aid kits, dry shampoo, and different (larger) sized diapers to name a few. We also took in toothpaste, toothbrushes, cleansing items, feminine products, deodorant, and wipes along with many other very needed things.
Clean-up efforts are already underway downtown, as the water has receded, but there is still so much to do. (See pics)
As we drove around in the downtown area, it seemed there were still some folks without power, but hopefully that will be on soon.
Please pray for this community, as well as so many others, as they begin to try to recover from this terrible disaster. đđ
Next on our list to help is Greeneville, TN, and then on to Asheville, as soon as we can find out from friends if we can get in to places that need help.
The Carmonas plan to come back out to help with the efforts here in TN and in NC, as soon as they can. We are grateful for all they did to help this region, and for their beautiful kids, Eli, Sarah, and sweet Esther. We love this family! đ
We have set up a giving campaign on our website, and all funds will go towards buying and distributing supplies to those who've been impacted. We will also give any extra funds to a local church here who will be going into the region to help, as they are also from Asheville, and have many family and friends there.
